Volunteer, Enrichment, & Outreach Coordinator

Education and Experience:

●      Bachelor’s degree

●      Minimum 1 year of related experience, preferably including direct experience with trauma- informed care for a vulnerable youth population and/or donor relations and marketing

Position Summary: The Outreach Coordinator is responsible for contributing toward overall Maximum Watchful Oversight (MWO) program objectives by developing strategic community partnerships to leverage resources, opportunities, and volunteers in support of youth participants at the girls residential program. This role enhances the life skills development, and personal growth for participants, for example field trips and community engagement. Additionally, The Outreach Coordinator will assist the Executive Director and Development Director in administrative tasks to include marketing and donor relations. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

●      Recruits, interviews, screens, trains, and supervises (or assigns) volunteer staff

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to): 

●      Communicates with all departments of the organization to identify available opportunities and needs for volunteers.

●      Recruits volunteer staff to fit these roles using a variety of resources and techniques.

●      Gathers information about each volunteers’ skills, availability, and goals; matches volunteers with appropriate opportunities based on this data.

●      Schedules, coordinates, and assigns volunteers to appropriate departments, supervisors, and/or mentors.

●      Regularly communicates with volunteers to ensure placement is a good fit for individuals’ skills and goals.

●      Maintains files, records, applications, and other data concerning volunteer program.

●      Drafts, maintains, and publishes guidelines, best practices, and procedures for volunteer program.

●      Maintains a marketing calendar for social media and events

●      Cultivates relationships with donors, tells the story of Micah’s Promise, and maintains strong ties within the community

●      Coordinates volunteer recognition and appreciation events and activities.

●      Performs other related duties as required.

●      Model behavior management and de-escalation skills to participants and staff

●      Provide care to program participants without regard to race, gender, ethnicity, religious or spiritual beliefs

●      Provide culturally competent care for participants wondering about their sexuality or gender identity, including those who may identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender-variant, or those who have questions

 

Program Support

●      Plan and coordinate meaningful activities for participants, including milestone or special occasion celebrations, quarterly events with families, field trips, and community outings

●      Collaborate with behavioral health staff and other team members to identify innovative strategies to support the personal growth of each participant

●      Develop community partnerships and identify program resources for participants, including volunteers, in-kind support, fundraising support, access to experiences and opportunities, and mentors

●      Follow all GRP policies and procedures, as well as what is outlined in the Participant Handbook (dress code, procedures for hygiene, medicine administration, etc.)

●      Provide direct supervision to participants as needed, with guidance and support from Behavioral Health staff

●      Report and record participant progress and any critical incidents that occur on assigned shifts

●      Actively support security and facility objectives, particularly regarding on-site visitors and participant travel

Qualifications:

●      Administrative, organizational, and computer skills including use of email and Microsoft Office suite of products

●      Never have been shown by credible evidence (e.g., a court or jury, a department investigation, or other reliable evidence) to have abused, neglected, sexually exploited, or deprived a child or adult or to have subjected any person to serious injury as a result of intentional or grossly serious injury as a result of intentional or grossly negligent misconduct as evidenced by an oral or written statement to this effect obtained at the time of application and evidence of having made efforts to obtain and evaluate references from previous employers

●      Documentation of references (at least two professional and one personal) that attest to the person’s capability of performing the duties of the position and to the person’s suitability of working with or around children and vulnerable populations

Position Requirements:

●      Moderate local travel required related to participant and program needs, as well as occasional travel for training

●      Ability to lift objects up to 25 pounds, work for long periods at a computer, and drive company vehicle as needed

●      Satisfactory criminal history background check, as well as a satisfactory fingerprint records check determination as required by law

●      Clean Motor Vehicle Record

●      Documentation from a licensed physician or other licensed healthcare professional of a health screening examination within 30 days of hiring sufficient in scope to identify conditions that may place residents at risk of infection, injury or improper care

●      Current evidence of successful completion of a biennial training program in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and a triennial training program in first aid which have been offered by a certified or licensed healthcare professional; such programs shall be completed within the first year of employment

●      Participation in all required trainings and competency in areas of training content

●      Participation in all outreach and fundraising activities, as able
